How to Survive and Office Party

If you have just received party invitations to your company holiday party there are a few things that you should remember. While company parties can be fun they can also be dangerous to your career. Getting out of hand at a company party can follow you around for years and even prevent promotions. Here are tips on how to survive this years festivities:

Don’t Drink – While one glass of wine will be fine, don’t overdo it. Getting drunk and acting crazy is the most common problem when it comes to holiday parties. Whether it involved saying inappropriate things to your boss or unwanted passes at your co-workers, drinking and holiday work parties should be avoided. Save the heavy drinking for your friends and family.

Presents – If you are giving your boss a present, stick with something safe like personalized stationery. Avoid gifts that can make them uncomfortable or could be deemed inappropriate. Gag and joke gifts are best left to your friends and family as your boss may not get the joke and instead be offended. Play it safe when it comes to gifts for the boss.
